Biography
Dr. Aram Sirakian is a renowned specialist in implant dentistry and prosthodontics. One of the first surgically trained prosthodontists in New England, he has been working with some of the most prestigious specialty practices in the Boston area since 1997 to bring healthy and beautiful smiles to patients. Now at the peak of his career, Dr. Sirakian is considered a master of complete oral rehabilitation and lectures internationally on advancements in cosmetic and implant dentistry.
Dr. Sirakian’s training is quite unique in its depth and its dual emphasis on both the functional and esthetic aspects of implant dentistry. He first obtained his undergraduate degree from Northeastern University in 1984 and then earned his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1998. Dr. Sirakian then immersed himself in a 2-year Fellowship in Oral Implantology and Biomaterials at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, one of only a handful programs devoted exclusively to the art and science of implant dentistry. He then continued his training at a three-year Research Fellowship in Prosthodontics at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. One of the nine specialties recognized by the American Dental Association, prosthodontics is the study of implant, esthetic and reconstructive dentistry.
Recognizing the importance of keeping up with the latest advancements in his field, Dr. Sirakian continues to spend at least one month out of the year at various trainings in the United States and abroad.
Dr. Sirakian has been in private practice in North Andover, Massachusetts since 1999. In addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice, he remains active as a dental educator and researcher. Dr. Sirakian has served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Prosthodontics in the Department of Restorative Sciences/Biomaterials at the Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry since 1997. Prior to that, he held a position as Clinical Instructor and Lecturer for Complete Denture Prosthodontics at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Sirakian has published chapters in textbooks and numerous scientific articles in leading dental journals on topics such as dental implants and prosthodontics and has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Oral Implantology for 10 years.
Dr. Sirakian has been a Diamond Partner of NobelBiocare™ since 2002. He received numerous awards, including an Award for Excellence in Esthetics from NobelEsthetics™, a Golden Medal of “Devotee to Stomatology” for Valuable Contribution and Devotion to the Association from the Armenian Dental Association in 2005, recognition for volunteering at the 2000 Yankee Dental Congress, a Certificate of Appreciation from the Academy of Prosthodontics in 1995 for assistance with the scientific program for the annual meeting, a Certificate of Recognition for his contribution to the scientific program for the annual meeting of the 4th International Congress of Dental Implantology and Biomaterials in Stomatology in 1990, and the Steri-Oss Platinum Award in 1988.
Dr. Sirakian is a member of numerous professional organizations including the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the American College of Oral Implantology, the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and the Harvard Alumni Association. He has served as president of both the American College of Prosthodontists (MA) and The Academy of Dental Science.
Born in London, Dr. Sirakian came to Tennessee at age 10 and lived in Charleston, South Carolina and New York State prior to setting roots in Massachusetts. He now lives in Andover, Massachusetts with his wife, Dr. Asteghik Hacobian, an anesthesiologist and clinical instructor at Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. They are proud parents to son Eric, who is near the top of his class at Phillips Academy and enjoys acting.
In addition to his first love—the art of dentistry—Dr. Sirakian enjoys practicing the art of cooking and has taken courses with internationally renowned chefs in Italy and France. His other interests include skiing, bicycling, gardening, sports fishing, hiking and traveling and he is a lover of the arts and photography.
Thankful for his rich and rewarding career, Dr. Sirakian has a strong commitment to giving back. He has worked to promote dental care in third-world countries through The Armenian International Dental Association, which oversaw the construction of six dental clinics in remote villages where dental care would otherwise be difficult to obtain.and provides funding for dentists to serve the local population.
